Goodbye to an Old Friend / App

 I first installed Evernote on an iPhone in July of 2008, when the iOS App Store opened. I have been (oops, force of habit - had been) an Evernote ever since.  I was not just a casual user. It was consistently one of,or the, most used app throughout my work days and at home. I used it to take notes at client sites and when I was studying, to clip articles from the web, and to take notes and organize my life outside of work.  I used it on my phones, on many Windows PCs, many Macs, and in web browsers when necessary. Hell, I even still have a tshirt with their elephant logo (these notes help you never forget) that must be 10+ years old. Tech and Nonsense and Back At It

Tech and Nonsense is back! Well, neither of them ever really went away - but this little place that wants to honor them did. It's been a while - two + years - but now it feels well past time to revive this blog. I've got three very simple reasons motivating me: I just miss writing . And writing on more or less whatever comes to mind in these two areas that always hold a lot of my attention. I love the domain name . It took several years to get it, and I just haven't done enough with such a great name. There's so much great tech out there - especially great smartphones, more on that soon - and of course tons of great nonsense. I guess I feel the need to write about it - not as cool as feeling "the need for speed", but it's what I've got to work with. Anyway, I'm going to do my best to keep at it this time and consistently share thoughts on these topics.

Essential Phone Was Not After One Week, This Will Be

** Note - This post was first published on Medium back in September of 2017. I'm adding it here as I try out using Blogger to share some thoughts. Well, my time with the Essential Phone ended up being very brief. I decided to return it to Amazon after just a week — and replaced it with a phone from one of my long-time favorites, the OnePlus 5 from OnePlus. The OnePlus is still my joint favorite phone I’ve ever used, alongside the Nexus 6P — and I still have it around as my backup phone and always enjoy using it when it’s in service. I also enjoyed the OnePlus 3T, and I’m loving the OnePlus 5 after getting it just a couple days ago. Here’s a quick rundown on why I got rid of the Essential Phone: Poor Performance : Apart from the one big, bizarre bug I mentioned in my  quick initial thoughts on the Essential Phone , the phone also frequently required 2–3 screen taps to get response as well as some slowness on switching between apps.
